Conquering the Seas
Author: Monica Pueba
There was young woman who left home, traveled many miles over the seas, far away from home, where she had no one, no mother, father, sister or brother. She left with a lot of hope and conviction that she was doing the right thing at that point in her life. She arrived in a foreign country and received quite a shock; the weather was harsh. So harsh that she had to wear layers of clothing all day long. The beautiful rays of sunlight she remembered from back home were a like a dream gone blurry. Oh how she missed home and her family, the love and protection it offered her. Her confidence began to falter, her faith began to waver, and the thoughts began molding in her heart … questions!!
Is this really God’s will for my life?
Have I made the right decision?
How long can I hold on to this dream before it crashes?
Why am I not fitting in to my new environment?
Why am I so cold?
Oh why? Oh why?!
Until she found a Christian group, young and old people, from all races and backgrounds, both male and female, the learned and the unlearned. They all shared one thing in common, the Gospel, the Gospel of Love. They have a gathering for bible study every Tuesday. She began to look forward to it, and gradually this young woman has found peace. Her faith is now restored, no longer shaken and scalded with fear. She has found true friends with whom she shares a common diet.
Every time we move away from home, there’s fear and doubt, but be not discouraged for God has told us in 1Sam. 12:22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for His great name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people. Again we are reminded in Hebrew 10:23 “let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised ;)”
The wind still blows from the North Sea, the weather is still cold through spring, but guess what, that young lady has found warmth and peace with her Lord and Savior. SHE HAS CONQUERED THE SEA…..
